At American University School of Medicine Aruba, our curriculum is designed to equip you with a deep understanding of medical sciences while providing real-world applications to ensure your success on the United States Medical Licensing Exam® (USMLE®) and in your medical residency.
You’ll start by building a strong academic foundation with our comprehensive Medical Sciences curriculum. This foundational phase combines rigorous classroom learning with hands-on experience, including patient simulations and community health initiatives. As you progress, you’ll transition into Clinical Education rotations, where you’ll apply your knowledge in diverse medical settings and further develop the skills needed to thrive as a practicing physician.

Medical Sciences at AUSOMA
At AUSOMA, the first two years are spent on the beautiful island of Aruba, where you’ll immerse yourself in core medical sciences through a rigorous curriculum covering subjects like anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
You’ll also gain valuable hands-on patient care experience and receive focused preparation for the USMLE Step 1. This comprehensive approach ensures you’re fully equipped for clinical rotations and the next steps in your medical career.
Clinical Education
Clinical Education at AUSOMA
After completing the medical sciences curriculum at AUSOMA, you’ll spend two years in clinical rotations at our U.S. teaching hospital affiliates.
You have the option to stay at one hospital for the entire core rotations, providing continuity in patient care and reducing stress. This approach allows you to build strong patient relationships while refining your clinical skills in a supportive environment, preparing you for residency and a successful medical career.
