Student Visa and Permit Application Process for Aruba

Students must prepare the following documents to obtain a visa for studying in Aruba. We’ve detailed the immigration process below and will connect you with a coordinator to guide you.

Documents must be submitted before arrival and take 4-6 weeks to process. After paying your registration fee, gather all required materials listed here. Ensure all paperwork is accurate and up-to-date.

Student Residency Permit
  • US/Canadian citizens only need a student residency permit to study in Aruba.
  • All the documents listed below must be sent to Ms. Baroud before arrival but can also be brought to the island when the student arrives.
Student Visa
  • Non-US/Canadian citizens must get a student visa to study in Aruba.
  • Send all required documents to Ms. Baroud at least 4 weeks before arriving in Aruba.
  • Non-US/Canadian citizens will first receive a temporary student permit. They must then send this permit to the Dutch embassy in their home country to obtain the student visa. The process takes about 5 weeks.
  • US passport holders (US citizens) born in another country must provide a birth certificate apostilled from their country of birth.
  • Canadian passport holders (Canadian citizens) born in another country must also provide a birth certificate apostilled from their country of birth.
Schengen Visa

BE ADVISED: AUSOMA does not issue U.S. student visas. AUSOMA only provides student visas for studying in Aruba.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

1. ENROLLMENT LETTER ( LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE) Letter must come from AUSOMA stating the period of enrollment. It should be printed in color. Black and white will not be accepted.

2. PASSPORT PROFILE PAGE Submit a clear copy of the photo page of your passport in color. Passport must have at least 6 months of validity upon submission.

3. 4 PASSPORT SIZE PICTURES WITH WHITE BACKGROUND (35 X 45 mm)
Student will need to bring the photos with them when they arrive to Aruba.

4. POLICE CLEARANCE OR A CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT This needs to be issued by the student’s country of residence from the last five years. This should be Apostilled by the local Apostille office and not older than 6 months. If the certificate is in a foreign language, it should be translated by a sworn translator
a. U.S. Residents – certificate or police clearance must be apostilled by the local Apostille office. b. Resident of Canada- certificate or police clearance must be legalized by Foreign Affairs and then by the Dutch embassy
c.Resident of India- police clearance needs to be legalized by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and Dutch embassy.
d. Residents of Other Countries will be responsible for inquiring about the requirements and procedures of notarization, legalization, or certification with an apostille from proper authorities in the country of origin or the country where documents were issued.

5. PROOF OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT: Please attach any or all the documents below to the Proof of Financial Support Form provided
a. Declaration of signed parent support with a colored copy of the parent’s passport profile page with the same signature.
b. Loan statement with the student’s name is the borrower.

6. BIRTH CERTIFICATE
**BE ADVISED: If a student is a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident but whose country of birth is outside the U.S., their birth certificate must be apostilled by the country of birth.
a. If born in the USA, the birth certificate needs to be certified by Apostille by the US Secretary of State
b. If born in CANADA, the Birth certificate needs to be legalized by Foreign Affairs and by the Dutch Embassy.
c. If born in INDIA, the Birth certificate needs to be certified by Apostille by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and Dutch Embassy.
d. If born in another country, the birth certificate must be apostilled by the country of birth

7. MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
If a student is married, please bring the Marriage Contract/Certificate legalized in the country where the marriage took place.
a. If married in the US, must be certified by Apostille by the US Secretary of State
b. If married in CANADA, must be legalized by the FOREIGN AFFAIRS and DUTCH EMBASSY.
c. If married in INDIA, must be certified by Apostille by the MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS, the government of India, New Delhi, and the Dutch embassy.
d. If married in other countries, please refer to your respective country’s official government website for legalization.

8. MEDICAL/ HEALTH / TRAVEL INSURANCE
a. Students must show proof of health/medical insurance that should be good for one year. The policy must have a start and expiry date indicated.

Apostille Process
The Apostille is a certification of public (including notarized) documents to be used in another country. With this certification, documents are recognized by the Government of Aruba. The Apostille authenticates the signature and seal of the issuing public official or notary public. It does not authenticate the contents of the document. The Apostille is a single sheet of paper in a highly structured format bearing the state seal and is attached to your document.

Process for Citizens and Residents of all other countries
Documents need to be attested by the Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in your country. Take the attested documents to the Dutch Consulate and they will Apostille (legalize) it for you.

Health Information

Students must provide proof of health insurance from their home country, valid for one year, before arriving in Aruba. A medical check will be done in Aruba to get a student residency permit, which will also be valid for one year.

After completing the health check and obtaining the student residency permit, students will receive a free health insurance card from the Aruban government, called the Aruban Health Card. The medical test is paid by the student and is approximately $168.
